Beautiful, relaxed stay in a working wildlife sanctuary.
Warm welcome from Chip and his team of zoologists. Peaceful, out of the way location with lovely view and private cabin. Good breakfast and option to tour their wildlife sanctuary.

Nice place! But a little hard to get to.
This location is very far up a gravel road from Quepos in the opposite direction of Manuel Antonio Park. It takes a good 20 minutes to get from the main road to the hotel and it is not an easy drive. Especially for older travelers, like my father. There was "suspicious" activity on the road at night (trucks blocking the bridge) which scared my father quite a bit. From what I gathered, these were security guards from a nearby property preventing teenagers from motorbiking through, but nonetheless, running into a road block 7km up a dirt road at night in Costa Rica can be a nerve-racking experience.
Large, nice suite with modern showers and facilities. The location is beautiful and surrounded by Palm plantations and forest. Chip is very friendly and we were served a great breakfast.

Wonderful, quiet and secluded
Be aware that it's about a 15 minute drive to Quepos. If you're looking for quiet secluded evenings - this is the place.
We had a great time. It's a great place, great staff and they do wonderful work. Don't miss a tourof the animal shelter. The cabins had an amazing shower. Wonderful pool and grounds.

Abandoned, overpriced and no 4**** accommodation at all!
This really is not at all a 4 Star accommodation!!! Our toilet seat was so old that it was crumbling apart, you simply could not sit on it. The floor seemed clean but felt sticky as if it was cleaned with butter. There was still dirt of the previous guests in the dirtbin. You get the advice not to arrive after 5 pm because of the difficult road but you have no occasion to eat there in the evening so you have to go out. When you arrive back in the later evening it is totally dark, solar lights are there but they don't work so you really see nothing at all, even in the main entrance there are no lights which make this a spooky, abandoned place in the middle of a palm tree farm. The whole area could be so lovely and beautiful but it is totally abandoned as if nobody really takes care of it. This would habe been almost acceptable if you book a 1 or 2 star accommodation for 30-40$ a night but for this price this is really a shame!!! You'd better stay somewhere else in Quepos or Manuel Antonio. If you don't really care about the accommodation you stay in and you are just there for the nature, then it's okay (still overpriced though!).
The owner Chip explained a lot about what they do for animals and the projects they have helping them. The area around the bubgalows is beautiful.

a special place for a different experience
Hot water does not work a long time but anyways with the hot climate you don't need much.
A wonderful welcome. A place far away from the crowd but close enough to Quepos if you rented a 4 wheels drive car. The owner and his team are doing an amazing job with the foundation kids save the rain forest to save the endangered wild animals. And the premises are in the wild and spacious. Be curious and talk to the team ! Or take a tour as a volunteer to help (the money goes to the non profit association).

At this price point then a little more thought and effort needs to be employed on the customer's comforts. A well stocked fridge with cold beverages, a better breakfast offer and having towels changed would all be a start! Also the 4km drive off the main road means a 4x4 is all but essential.
Beautiful location deep in the heart of the rainforest. Comfy beds and clean rooms. Great to meet the staff and volunteers involved in KSTR

A real nature experience away from the crowds
The only thing was not having food for the evening and having to go back to town, although they let us use the kitchen to cook what we needed...
The location in the middle of the jungle was wonderful and Chip, the owner was so welcoming. The refuge of the children's association for the animals was next door and was a great way to see and learn about all the local species. Our best stay in Costa Rica!

This was our luxury treat to ourselves. A bit of a trek from quepos so you need a car (4wd) but the grounds are fantastic and a lovely hideaway. Chip the owner couldn't have been nicer, was like a friend we hadn't seen in years! . The cabin was huge and the bathroom quirky and fun.....the open plan layout was a bit different. Lovely pool. Great breakfast.

Would definitely recommend, especially for animal and nature lovers.
Our room was great - clean and comfortable. Liked the porch. Great breakfast. Chip is awesome. Loved the in-depth experience of being in nature. Even the Golden Orb Spiders which were creepy were kind of cool, and made the experience even more "authentic". (Don't worry, they stay put and don't bite.)

Hotel not well maintained and overpriced
The hotel is far from the city and there's no possibility for having lunch or dinner on site. The room was outdated with bad smell, no coffee nor filters, only one cup, an empty fridge and deficient toilet. The pool is not clean with broken tiles and floating stuff. The price is way too high for such quality
Breakfast was the only enjoyable time
